The Local Area
Sorrento is a small town in Campania, in the southern part of Italy,
it is a popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from
Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the
Circumvesuviana rail line. The town of Sorrento overlooks the
Bay of Naples and is considered to be the key place of the
Sorrentine Peninsula, and lots of areas to view Naples
itself, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri.
The Amalfi Drive which connects Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow
road that heads along the high above cliffs the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Local Services
Ferry boats and hydrofoils provide services to Naples, Amalfi, Positano,
Capri and Ischia. The cliffs, luxury hotels and atmosphere have attracted
notable people, including the renowned Enrico Caruso and the
late Luciano Pavarotti.
Sorrento has an agricultural side to itself, a producer of citrus fruits,
wines, olives and other condiments. Carpentry
and wood furnishings is well developed here.
Public transport is a great way to explore the coastal area of Amalfi,
as the route takes you literally in line with the sea as you head towards
the Bay of Naples. Ravello, Positano and Pompeii are well worth visiting,
they are not so far from the apartment and is within easy reach. If
your stay is during the summer months the ferry connections to Capri
and the Ischia Islands are in operation. Just 15 minutes away is the
main beach at Amalfi and continue from there and you will find more
beaches for you to enjoy.

is available at the nearest airport which is Naples Capodichino Apt,
most airlines flight in and out regularly, so catch an early booking
for a cheaper seat and cheaper travel.
